Steven Okun, the Founder and CEO of APAC Advisors and a Senior Advisor to McLarty Associates and head of their Singapore office, is a leader on corporate public affairs, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement.

In 2022, the AmChams of Asia Pacific, the umbrella organization of 25 American Chambers of Commerce in the region, elected him as its Chair.

He spent the first dozen years of his career in Washington, DC, including serving in the Administration of President Bill Clinton. He has lived and worked in Asia since 2003.

Steve's expertise encompasses business, government, ESG, broader sustainability initiatives and communications.

APAC Advisors provides a range of services with a focus on sustainability to clients in the financial services sector ranging from private equity and commodity trading firms to non-profit organizations.

As the Senior Advisor for Southeast Asia for the Global Private Capital Association, Steve works as the regional advocate for private capital and helped lead the establishment of the opening of their Asia office in Singapore.

As KKR’s first Director of Asia Public Affairs from 2011-2017, his responsibilities encompassed government affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement and sustainability as well as managing consultancies from across the region.

Steve created and led UPS Asia’s public affairs practice from 2003 until 2010, building a team based in five markets across the region.

He was elected three terms as Chair of AmCham Singapore, served on the boards of the private equity councils of Australia and Singapore, and as a Board Advisor to United World College of Southeast Asia (UWC).

A sought-after speaker, Steve frequently appears on CNBC and Channel NewsAsia and contributes regular commentary to The Straits Times.

He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
